In the Ordo for the Archdiocese of Vilnius for the year 1924 (that time
Vilnius was part of Poland) I have found an interesting prayer assigned by the
Archbishop for the Republic of Poland. The prayer should be sing after all
solemn Sunday masses and on the May 3rd (Polish national feast).
I know about customs of praying for:
- ·
for the emperor (my great-grandmother
told me that in my region after the Sunday Mass people prayed for the Emperor
of Austria-Hungary many years ago). The prayer is still to be found in the
Missale Romanum
- ·
the good weather in the Switzerland and Germany.
- ·
for the Queen in England
- ·
for the King in Belgium
but for the Republic and the president
it is new for me.
Is this practice alive in any of your churches, to pray for the Republic
and the president after Sunday mass?
