The Benedictine Abbey in the center of Munich

St. Boniface's Abbey was founded by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in the XIX century

Unfortunately the interior was 'updated' by the current inhabitants

This was not the result of a 'renovation' of the former beautifully appointed Romanesque basilica. The place was firebombed in WW2. Only the façade and first three or four 'bays' survived. While it would have been better, without a doubt, for them to have completely restored the basilica to its former glory, instead of going with a 'spaceship' look, the initial destruction was not an act of willful vandalism by the monks.
