The Grand Procession of Saint Stanislaus

Archconfraternity of the Blessed Sacrament

Today in Krakow took place the traditional procession in honor of Saint Stanislaus (Procesja Świętego Stanisława).  As each year on the first Sunday after May 8th (the feast of St. Stanslaus) the multitude of people gathered in Krakow to venerate this grand Patron Saint of Poland.

One of the main Patron Saints of Krakow is St. Florian. To honor him the main city gate and the main street were given his name.

Pray in public

I saw this man praying his Way of the Cross, while a small boy was observing him. For this boy it was the best lesson of piety (for me also).
Pray in public, to be the witness of faith to the new generation.

Ego sum Resurrectio et Vita

In the 19th century in this part of Poland there were living many people, speaking many different languages. The Church in her wisdom could gather all her children for pray under one roof, with one common language. And this Cross, standing on the cemetery,  is a good symbol of that.
Even after so many years this Cross unites all Catholics leaving in this area now and in the past.

16th century portraits of bishops

In the cloister of Franciscan convent in Krakow there is a set of portraits of Krakow bishops. I always like the three above.
I am just wondering why are they wearing a falda?  In the  twenty century Caeremoniale Romanum there is nothing about it. Does anyone know?
