Midnight Mass by Pius XII in 1944

People standing on the confessional in Saint Peter.
Is it still a custom?  :-)

What those people are doing there? Are they from some saint Andrew fraternity, having particular privilege to seat during papal mass on saint Andrew statue?

LIFE magazine reported that time that this was the first time since Charlemagne's coronation in 800AD that a Pope has said Midnight Mass.

Dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady

November 1, 1950 Pope Pius XII declared the dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady (6:00 min):
Declaramus et definimus divinitus revelatum dogma esse : Immaculatam Deiparam semper Virginem Mariam, expleto terrestris vitae cursu, fuisse corpore et anima ad caelestem gloriam assumptam.
We pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

Pastor Angelicus - 75 minutes about Pius XII

Probably the most interesting and audacious film ever made about a Pope. The title derives from the monk Malachi's prophecy predicting that the 422 th pope would be named "Pastor Angelicus". This Pope happened to be Pius XII. It illustrates the private and public life of the Pontiff : Many scenes are filmed in the private departments of the Vatican. It describes as well a typical day, his contacts with normal people, with children. It terminates with a solemn celebration in Saint-Peter Basilica.
